This one’s for Heman.

Jalan Petitenget, Seminyak

Although he’s been rude enough to go to Bali without me, Heman did at least ask if I had any useful hints for his upcoming trip. Since he’s heading over in March with the family and staying in Canggu, I figured I’d put together a little something to help.

And, Heman—you’re there for Nyepi Day (Bali’s Day of Silence)… so, good luck with that. 😆

What is Nyepi Day?

Nyepi falls on March 29th 2025 (dates change every year) and is Bali’s New Year according to the Balinese Saka calendar. Unlike big celebrations elsewhere, Bali marks the day with total silence, reflection, and stillness.

  • No one is allowed outside (yes, even tourists).

  • No noise, lights, or entertainment.

  • Even the airport shuts down for 24 hours!

It’s all about rest, reflection, and resetting for the year ahead—which sounds great unless you have a family full of restless kids who don’t like being indoors all day. 😅 So, stock up on snacks, download movies ahead of time, and be ready to enjoy a forced digital detox.

Now, About Canggu…

I don’t go to Canggu all that often, but when I do, my absolute favorite brunch spot is Lusa by Suka—great food, great value $5.5++ AUD and just the right vibe to start the day.

Sage Mushroom Scramble

And if you’re going to check out a beach club, La Brisa is gorgeous, especially for a family-friendly spot. Think beautiful boho decor, ocean views, and a laid-back feel that’s not as full-on as some of the other clubs.

Come to Seminyak

Of course, I’m totally biased and think you should come over to Seminyak. Some of my go-to spots?
Ling Lings—All the food is amazing, always good to feed the crew with Taco Tuesday $1 US++

Warung Jembung—because it’s one of my locals, and the food never disappoints

So there you go, Heman—a few Bali hints just for you. Hope you and the family have an amazing trip… even if you’re rude enough to go when I'm not there! 😜
